The focus is upward.
The goal is developing a relationship with Jesus.
This is the foundation upon which Tiers II (Challenges 5-8), and Tier III (Challenges 9-12) are built.

THE CHALLENGE: Disciples respond by cultivating thankful hearts.

THE CHALLENGE: Disciples must learn to discern and listen
to God's voice.

Tier II, (Challenges 5 to 8) are organized around the goal of “growing to become like Jesus.” (Character Transformation)
The focus is inward.
These challenges speak both to the individual disciple and to the faith community.
The goal is progressive transformation – becoming like Jesus.

THE TRUTH: Jesus was different: Holiness characterized his life and enriched the lives of others.
THE CHALLENGE: Disciples continually cultivate Christlike character and holiness.

THE TRUTH: Jesus created a community of disciples to be a visible expression of Kingdom living.
THE CHALLENGE: Disciples serve and flourish within that community.

Tier III, challenges 9 to 12, explore our God-given purpose and mission of “living for Jesus.” (Ministry & Mission)
The focus is outward to the world around us.
The goal is to live for Jesus by loving and serving others.
People flourish as they live for something or someone greater than themselves.

THE TRUTH: God demonstrated his overflowing love and generosity by giving us his son and his son giving his life.
THE CHALLENGE: Disciples respond by giving generously and joyfully.

THE TRUTH: Jesus humbly and joyfully served others. This was an essential part of his mission and an expression of his holiness.
THE CHALLENGE: Jesus sends his disciples to represent him by humbly and joyfully serving others. This reflects Christlike character and is an essential part of our mission.

THE TRUTH: Jesus responded to opposition, rejection, and hatred with truth, courage, grace, and love.
THE CHALLENGE: Disciples seek to respond to opposition, rejection, and hatred with truth, courage, grace, and love.

THE TRUTH: Jesus is the giver of life, Messiah, Savior, and Lord of all. One day every knee will bow, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.
THE CHALLENGE: Disciples seek to bring every part of their lives under Jesus’ rule on their lifelong faith journey. They practice Kingdom living now in anticipation of the consummation.
